Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of PlaceTally, a travel tracking application operated by Volodymyr Vovchenko ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.

The service

PlaceTally lets you record where you stay and travel, and computes statistics from that data — maps, night counts, spending summaries, and informational day-count trackers. We continually improve the service and may add, change, or remove features over time.

Not tax, legal, or immigration advice

PlaceTally includes informational tools such as residency day counters, the Schengen 90/180 calculator, and the US Substantial Presence Test estimate. These are calculations based solely on the data you enter and simplified rules. They may be incomplete, out of date, or inapplicable to your situation, and they are not tax, legal, or immigration advice. Always verify day counts independently and consult a qualified professional before making decisions with tax or immigration consequences. We accept no liability for decisions made based on these tools.

Your account

You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to use PlaceTally.

Plans and billing

Free plan — limited number of locations and day trips, as described on the pricing page. Limits may change, but we won't reduce what an existing account can already access without notice.
Pro Monthly — a recurring monthly subscription billed through Stripe. You can cancel anytime in Settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and we don't issue partial refunds for the remainder of a period.
Pro Lifetime — a one-time payment granting Pro access for the lifetime of the service. If you're unhappy, contact us within 14 days of purchase for a full refund.

Prices are shown before any applicable sales tax or VAT, which is calculated at checkout. If we ever discontinue PlaceTally, we will give reasonable notice and provide a way to export your data.

Your content

You own the data you enter. You grant us the limited license needed to host, process, and display it back to you — and, only if you enable a public share page, to display your selected statistics publicly. You can export your data and delete your account (including all data) at any time in Settings.

Acceptable use

Don't abuse the service: no unauthorized access attempts, scraping, disrupting other users, reselling access, or using PlaceTally for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Disclaimer and limitation of liability

PlaceTally is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including data loss — please keep exports of important data.

Termination

You can stop using PlaceTally or delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms; where reasonable, we will warn you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Changes

We may update these terms; the effective date above reflects the latest version. For material changes we will notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
